Established in 2019, Art&Soul Girls, Inc. is a charitable, non for profit organization with the mission to improve the moral and social welfare of minority, teenage girls. Art & Soul Girls, INC. has been known for an unparalleled commitment to providing a safe, creative haven for minority teenage girls, ages 11-17. Art & Soul Girls team believes that through all forms of art, while incorporating physical exercise, young ladies may increase their confidence levels and social welfare and skills to be prepared to find their SOUL purpose in their lives.
We believe exposure to different artistic forms and culture through museums, theaters, art galleries, concerts, orchestras, to name a few forms, will provide teenagers with the means to nurture their artistic capabilities. Art & Soul girls also believe in the value of physical exercise and philanthropy, as well to increase the overall well being of its members. A Midsummer Night's Dream

Art & Soul Girl, Inc had their first event meeting on July 24, 2019 at Flushing Meadows Park in Queens, New York. Four beautiful BROWN girls, aged 11-13, were in attendance for the off broadway play presented by Hip to Hip Theatre company. The girls were exposed to Shakespearean language and gained an appreciation for the arts, and each other. Our next meeting is in August. Please come back for more details. Art & Soul Girls attended Bric! Celebrate Brooklyn festival in Prospect Park. Our SOUL girls (11-13) witnessed a jaw dropping performance from Alvin Ailey: Ailey II dance company. The performance consisted of eight dance pieces exposing our SOUL girls to contemporary, ballet, hip hop ,and lyrical forms of dance. Each SOUL girl had reflective questions to answer post performance and were leaping with joy leaving the park. Stay tuned for our next event!

ART & SOUL GIRLS TAKE OVER THE BROOKLYN MUSEUM

Our SOUL girls (15-17) attended a pop up performance of the Brooklyn Symphony Orchestra at the Brooklyn Museum. The girls were also able to view various exhibitions and learned about new artists such as Titus Kaphur. The girls then went on an adventure and walked the iconic Brooklyn Bridge, to fulfill the exercise goal of the month. Check out pictures of our beautiful, BROWN SOUL girls taking over Brooklyn!

'19-20 SCHOOL YEAR VISION BOARD EVENT

Our BEAUTIFUL, BROWN SOUL girls took over SoHo, Manhattan for our first vision board event for the school year. Our SOUL girls were able to express their visions for their goals for the school year, and most importantly, themselves. Our SOUL girls (ages 11-14) were able to safely voice their opinions and share their dreams with each other, which allowed them to build their confidence and work on their social skills. We watched a TED talk video by Ashanti Johnson on the importance of having and executing your vision. Check out our future fashion designers, architects, and veterinarians! Art & Soul Girls had the honor of fighting breast cancer for the American Cancer Society "Making Strides for Breast Cancer" walk in Central Park. We walked 4 miles to aid in breast cancer research. The girls and women of Art & Soul Girls, Inc took over lower Manhattan for a day of giving back and art! We started off the day at Village Temple Soup Kitchen to volunteer in their soup kitchen benefiting the surround community and homeless population. Next, we took off to Chelsea to David Zwirner's Art Gallery to explore: "Everyday I Pray for Love" by Yayoi Kusama. Stay tuned for our next event ("A Night in New York City") for Christmas!
A NIGHT IN NEW YORK CITY

Art & Soul Girls, Inc attended 'Twas the Night Before Christmas by Cirque du Soleil for our Christmas outing focusing on art for the month with our girls ages 11-17. Afterwards, we walked the streets of New York City singing Chrismtas songs all the way to the Rockefeller Christmas Tree. Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, and Chanukah to all. Happy New Year and we will see you in January, where the focus for the month is digital art.

MEATPACKING DISTRICT

ART&SOUL GIRLS, INC had the wonderful opportunity to visit Samsung 837. We were exposed to digital artistry, AR technology, and attended a lecture on 5G technology. We also were led on a guided smart house tour to see how Samsung is changing the game in smart home technology. ART&SOUL, GIRLS took over the National Mall at the Museum of African American History and Culture in Washington, DC in honor of Black History Month. We revisited blacks' influence in several industries from centuries before and reflected on the importance and responsibility that we have to continue these legacies. BRONX MORRIS SHELTER COVID19 RELIEF

Due to unforeseen circumstances related to the COVID 19 pandemic, Art&Soul Girls, INC had to postpone our Enhancing Life Skills CPR event.Â
March 28, 2020: We explore the Museum do Amanha in Rio De Janeir.. virtually! We saw exhibits on applied science and climate change, all presented by Google Arts and Culture
March 29, 2020: Our SOUL moms and founder raised $400.00 and went shopping at Costco. We donated basic necessities (diapers, pads, food, and water) to a family shelter in Bronx, New York. We did not want to leave any community behind in this pandemic.

TOKYO, JAPAN
April 2020
We explored the agricultural industry, toured the Toyosu Market, dug into the roots of ramen, as well as what to eat the noodles on and with. We enjoyed a short film by Japanese animation artist: Tezuka Osamu and learned about the history, time, place, and occasion of wearing a Kimono. Our soul girls want to do a #ramenchallenge, but we aren't sure about that! Stay tuned for our next virtual city tour.. We love you and stay safe!
INTERNATIONAL VIRTUAL ART SERIES:Â ROME, ITALY

A&SG, INC took an international trip to Rome, Italy and explored the history of bread making, mozzarella cheese, and Biello felt hats. We explored Italian street artists, such as Alice Pasquini. We also dug into the dreams of Romans and explored an Italian American enclave in southern California. One of our SOUL moms shared her pictures of past travel to the Vatican in Rome and one of our SOUL members, Leah, won a Starbucks card for answering our trivia question. SOUL WHOLENESS SERIES: THE ART OF MEDITATION
June 7, 2020
To kick off our SOUL Wholeness Series, we started off sitting through a meditation session featuring Ameerah Omar of MNDFL, an organic meditation company founded in NYC. Ameerah guided our SOUL girls through the practice of being present by concentration and focusing on our breathing. Since this event was held virtually, we had two SOUL girls join us from Virginia! Each girl in attendance will be gifted with a meditation class from MNDFL. Our SOUL wholeness series continues in a few weeks for our Loving the Skin I am IN session. Each session in this series is free and will be held from June-August.
